Rugged, adaptable and accurate.

SBS systems consist of a computer control unit, a vibration sensor, a spindle-mounting adapter and a balance head (in either internal or external configurations). Sensors attached to the grinding machine measure the imbalance and transmit this signal to the control unit, which adjusts the position of counterweights inside the balance head to quickly and dynamically eliminate the vibration of the machine.

The SBS Control Unit should be mounted in a location that allows observation of the display by the machine operator. Mounting hardware is available for installation on horizontal surfaces or for rack mounting in standard 19” racks. Cabling connections to the control unit include the Vibration Sensor Cable, the Balance Head Cable, the power cord, and CNC Interface Cable if applicable (see: System Connection diagram). All connections are clearly labeled on the rear of the control unit. Be sure that the proper fuses (Two 3 Amp SLO-BLO) are installed. (see: Rear Panel Controls section).

SBS Control Features:

  • Microprocessor-based control system constantly monitors and compensates for changes in grinding system behavior.

  • Calibrated vibration sensor eliminates the need for any calibration or setup. The sensor used is common in the industry, and will correlate to readings taken from plant vibration analysis equipment.

  • Effective in balancing both single speed and constant surface footage (variable speed) applications.

  • Mounted atop the operator station, the controller display shows spindle RPM and vibration amplitude. Vibration amplitude can be viewed either in inch or metric, and in displacement or velocity.
